Over the weekend, I went on a trip to the Aran Islands off the coast of Co. Clare. The trip back was quite an experience.. As the video below shows, the ocean was a tad rough and the boat trip turned into a festival of international vomiting. All continents were represented, I am sure.
For those of a sensitive disposition, there is NO vomiting in the attached video, just enormous waves crashing off very high cliffs. Pretty darn impressive, if I say so myself..
Oh dear god, I don’t get sea sick, but those waves are huge!
I’m glad
a) I wasn’t on that boat – I get sea sick just watching it
b) the weather was nice when I visited Cliffs of Moher 22 years ago
But sure the waves are impressing – how did you manage to stand up and film?
I never made it to the Aran Islands. Had to be content with a knitted sweater which I used many years until it … erm… shrunk in the wardrobe.
The waves near the Cliffs of Moher are known to be enormous. We were meant to berth in Doolin, but the waves were crashing over the pier there, so we were ferried to Liscannor instead, some 10 miles away. This meant that we had to go right past the Cliffs of Moher themselves. It was pretty stomach churning..
