My first ever podcast, “A series of spectacular events” has been posted on the 365 Days of Astronomy blog today. It recounts a number of memorable experiences that I had while looking upwards at the skies over the past few years: a meteor storm, an aurora and a space shuttle launch. Hopefully it will convey the power of astronomy to recreate that sense of wonder that we had in abundance as children.
I’d love to hear your feedback on this. It was a lot of fun to put together and I have a few other ideas in the pipe-works that I would love to turn into finished podcasts some time in the future.
I really enjoyed your podcast, Colm. It was interesting, informative and amusing. Your voice was well-modulated, warm and conveyed enthusiasm for the subject. I listen to several audio books a week, and think by now I have a pretty good ear for an engaging narrator, and feel that you are one. I will be interested to hear future podcasts from you.
I also wanted to tell you that I’ve been reading your blog for a long while now and thoroughly enjoy it. It entertains me and makes me think, and I really like accompanying you on your rambles in nature. š
Take care,
Connie
Hi Connie,
Many thanks for your kind comments! I honestly didn’t know how the podcast would be received but the feedback has been excellent. It spurs me on to do more of them, if they will permit me. I have an idea in mind that I hope to develop with some “on the ground” reportage in the next few weeks. Personally I find it preferable to talk about something that I have experienced rather than just some facts that I have lifted from a book.
It’s great to hear from one of my readers, so please feel free to drop by and comment whenever you wish.
Thanks again,
Colm
I thoroughly enjoyed your podcast. I work in public outreach astronomy at Griffith Observatory and always encourage folks to look up without any optical aid to become more aware of the other half of their environment.
Looking forward to hearing future podcasts!

Thank you very much Carla! The experience has given me a lot of encouragement to do this again. I have an idea in the works which I hope to develop in the next few weeks, so hopefully there will be another podcast appearing soon.
Many thanks,
Colm
