On Sunday I participated in an annual charity walk from Ballycotton to Ballinrostig in Co. Cork. It’s a pretty special occasion because it is the only time in the year that walkers are permitted by the local land-owners to hike the route. As the video below will testify, the scenery is quite stunning. It’s not the easiest of walks – you have to negotiate quite a few barbed-wire fences – but the end is definitely worth the effort. The weather on Sunday was unseasonably good, which helped greatly.Β
So here is the video. Enjoy!
That looked absolutely fabulous, I loved the views from up top and the beaches too. You were blessed with the weather for this time of year-it could have gone either way! Looked like a really fun day, thanks for posting the video π
Thanks for your comments whoopsadaisy! Yes, the weather could easily have been very different, I agree.
Hello !! π

I am seriously impressed. Not only was the video so beautifully put together with the soundtrack and the subtle movements and the incorporation of video clips that it felt alive and vibrant, but your photos were exquisite!
I loved hiking around Ireland, there’s just no beating that landscape, with the soft light and the completely different green than what we get here (South Africa). I can’t wait to go for another visit to your country.
Your video clip has inspired me to look at all our photos with a fresh look – putting them together as a kind of photo album in motion like this makes it all so much more real and alive.
More! We want more! π
Thanks so much Reggie! π
I really like this ability to mix photos with video footage on modern cameras. Making a movie like this is very easy given the types of technologies available today. I used iMovie and iPhoto on an Apple Mac to complete this video. It didn’t take too long.
You have given me a great incentive to continue posting more photo journals like this to the web.
Greetings Colm, I am sixty and a half and I did the walk today. I still have the nettle stings to prove it. I enjoyed your video. I was training for an even longer walk in two weeks time in Kerry. I am attempting the Sneem 50 Mile Challenge for Chernobys Childrens Project and Street Children in India. Thank you for this video.
Hi Jeremiah – It’s a terrific walk. Best of luck with the Sneem 50 mile challenge. I’ve done something quite similar a few years ago. It’s also a great, challenging walk.
